Music Therapy And Autism

Imagine how frustrating it must be to be unable to communicate your feelings. The amount of individuals diagnosed with autism is increasing at an alarming rate. Many with autism struggle with communication, social, emotional, physical, and sensory issues. Music therapy can use music and its elements to address the needs of those with autism. Interventions such as improvisation, instrument playing, singing, movement, and listening to music can help them understand and express their emotions, engage with others, teach concepts, and express themselves in a safe environment. Helping the individuals with autism, in turn, helps the caregivers of these individuals.
