An Active Approach to Therapy

A treatment plan at Stride is not complete without an exercise component! Rehabilitative exercises improve body mechanics, correct muscle imbalances, restore range of motion and regain pre-injury muscle strength and endurance. This approach can prevent injury, mimic functional and sport movements, or develop the skills to train safely. A personalized program can work to help you achieve whatever goal you may have! “Stride was able to properly diagnose what was wrong and set me on the correct path with therapy and exercise. Now I am pain-free,” says client Don B.

Animals Experience Stress Too!

Stress in animals presents in various ways such as skin conditions, behavioural issues, cognitive dysfunctions, and digestive problems or they may hide it. It can be from eating certain foods, injuries, poor sleep, abuse or neglect, but they also respond to the stress their HUMAN is experiencing! Jin Shin Jyutsu helps to reduce the negative effects of stress on ALL living beings, including your animal companions. Dogs, cats and horses, along with other animals, respond to this non-verbal, gentle art form.

Let’s Talk Concussions

Fall contact sports (hockey, football and rugby) are quickly approaching which means now is a great time to talk about concussions. A concussion is caused by a direct blow to the head or indirect blow to the body that may result in dizziness, headache, nausea, vomiting, blurred vision and unconsciousness. A diagnosed concussion equals immediate removal from play, along with rest and sensory deprivation for 24 hours. Rehabilitation including manual therapy, visual and vestibular retraining and sport-specific readiness is part of the 5-stage protocol to obtain full clearance to return to play/sport.

Time to Try Jin Shin Jyutsu

Are arthritis, stress, stiffness and/or medical conditions getting in the way of enjoying your life? Jin Shin Jyutsu is a Japanese healing art that has been shown to relieve pain, alleviate acute and chronic conditions, eliminate stress and fatigue, promote optimal immune function, improve sleep and digestion, create emotional equilibrium, expand consciousness, and much more. It is not massage, nor a relaxation technique. Neither is it a belief nor a religion but rather a gentle healing art practiced by placing the fingertips on various body locations to harmonize and restore the correct flow of energy.

Making Informed and Caring Decisions

Q: My siblings and I are concerned about where my elderly father should live. How do we work through our different opinions? A: Well-meaning relatives may disagree with one another or with the aging person about where they should live and the level of care they require. Lawyers work with the family and excellent resources within the community to help ensure that the legal needs of vulnerable people and those who care about them are met. This work can also include discussions about financial circumstances, concerns, and estate planning.

Stop Stuffing Your Feelings

When we refuse to acknowledge negative feelings and experiences and stuff them down or pretend to be happy; where does all that upset go? Every feeling that we stuff creates a level of stress within our bodies and minds. Too much stress and our minds and bodies react, with anxiousness, overwhelm, depression, aches, pains and illness. We often treat our mental health with such disregard. If it were a broken limb, we would seek help, so why not for our emotional distress? By combining coaching and tapping to release mind/body stress, for example, new perspectives and peace are possible.
