Cremation or Burial?

Should you choose cremation or burial? To make the right decision, the first step is to understand each option. Cremation uses heat and evaporation, ultimately reducing the body to what is referred to as cremated remains. A casket or container is still required for cremation. Burial is the act of placing the deceased into a casket which is lowered into a grave and covered with earth, or entombed. Other factors to consider include: personal choice, memorialization options, cost, religion or tradition, and spouse’s wishes. With either option, a visitation, funeral and reception give the chance to say goodbye. There are many options to make the final ceremonies as special as the person being celebrated.

Indoor Air Pollution

Indoor air pollution in homes can lead to respiratory problems and other health issues. It can occur from many sources such as volatile organic compounds (VOC’s), mold, cleaning products, and pet dander. To mitigate indoor air pollution, prioritize ventilation with open windows and air purifiers, control humidity, use low-VOC products, clean and vacuum regularly, install carbon monoxide detectors, maintain and clean your furnace and replace the filter regularly. According to the EPA, the concentration levels of many volatile organic compounds are up to 10 times higher indoors than outdoors so it is very important to maintain ventilation flow in your home.

Health Benefits of Gluten Free

A gluten-free diet excludes gluten, found in wheat, barley, and rye, and is crucial for those with celiac disease, gluten sensitivity, or wheat allergy. Avoiding wheat-based products like bread and pasta, opting for gluten-free grains like rice and quinoa can relieve symptoms and prevent complications, for some it aids in weight management and raises awareness of healthier food choices. Be cautious of cross-contamination and check labels for gluten-free certification. Focus on whole foods like fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and naturally gluten-free grains. Gluten-free alternatives are available for common foods.
