Caring for Your Dentures
Dentures need daily care to keep them clean and in their best shape. When cleaning your dentures, be gentle to ensure you don’t break them. Try placing a towel in the sink or filling it with water to protect them from the hard surface. Soak your dentures and then brush them with a soft-bristled brush and a non-abrasive denture cleanser (toothpaste is not recommended). Place your dentures in water or a mild denture-soaking solution overnight, and then rinse them thoroughly in the morning before using them. These steps will help to keep your dentures looking and feeling great!

8 Pillars of Holistic Health
For holistic wellness, #Balance incorporates 8 dimensions that should work in harmony. These include: Financial – overall financial health; Spiritual – connected to something greater than yourself; Intellectual – refers to active participation in scholastic, cultural, and community activities; Emotional – inspires self-care, relaxation, stress reduction and the development of inner strength; Physical – promotes proper care of our bodies; Social – refers to the relationships we have and how we interact with others; Occupational – is the ability to achieve a balance between work and leisure; and Environmental – is an awareness of the effects of your daily habits on the physical environment.
What is Spinal Manipulative Therapy?
Spinal manipulation is a treatment technique that involves a high velocity, low amplitude thrust, which is performed by the practitioner on a joint segment of the patient’s spine. The treatment is often accompanied by an audible ‘pop’, which is a change in pressure within the synovial joint. Manipulations can be very helpful in providing pain relief to a specific injury, but the effects are short-lived. The long-term rehab plan for your pain/injury should focus on active-based programming such as exercise. The combination of manual therapy followed by exercise provides more permanent results and better patient outcomes. Ask your practitioner if this is right for you!
Pet Nutrition Tips
Cats and dogs have very different nutritional needs, but there are a few simple tips to help you decide what is best for your pet and budget.
1) Feed what you can afford. All types of food have some nutritional value. Raw is often viewed as best, then canned, then dry kibble. Research for the best brands/least recalls.
2) Feed only species appropriate foods to your pets. Non-processed human food is often okay for them. Check an online guide for specific foods that may be harmful.
3) Feed small portions several times per day to maintain a healthy weight.
Blocking Blue Light
Blue light emitted from the sun is essential to your body. However, exposing your eyes to the artificial blue light from computers, fluorescent lighting, smartphones and other digital devices may cause eye strain and interfere with sleeping. Blocking UV and HEV (high-energy visible) light can help protect against cataract and age-related macular degeneration. Ask your trusted eye care professional about blue light blocking lenses available to you. Our tip: If you are working on your laptop, tablet or smartphone long hours, we recommend giving your eyes frequent breaks by looking into the distance often.
