Volunteers Needed!

Here at Saskatoon Services for Seniors we strive to make a difference every day. We do this though helping Seniors remain safely in their own homes by helping provide the services that they need. One of these key services, especially in winter, is our Grocery Delivery Program and we are currently looking for one or two volunteers to help out. If you are interested in helping seniors in our community please contact our office today. Our grocery shoppers/delivery volunteers are needed for one to two days per week.

Help Support Seniors in Our Community today!

We started with offering our Housekeeping service and later developed yard work crews to help seniors with maintaining the outside of their properties. Over the years we have added many services to assist seniors including snow shoveling, handyman services and Grocery Delivery just to name a few. Today we offer many services to help seniors in Saskatoon remain safely in their homes and independent.

Kiss Your Bad Breath Goodbye

Everyone gets bad breath from time to time – but bad breath that doesn’t go away could mean you have an oral health issue. The most common cause of bad breath is poor oral hygiene, other causes can include dry mouth, and certain medications. When you don’t brush(clean) your natural teeth and/or dentures regularly, this can cause plaque and tartar to form on your teeth(both natural and false). If you’re struggling with bad breath that doesn’t go away, it’s important to see your denturist. They will be able to evaluate your oral health and determine what steps to take next.

Help to Remain in Your Home

As we age, it becomes more difficult to stay in our own homes and enjoy an independent lifestyle. Home care can help with a range of services that include: companionship, homemaking services, personal care and nursing care. A caregiver can also provide social activities as well as helping to prepare meals. Client Care Coordinators establish individualized care-plans to help suit your needs which provide the right amount of assistance in helping you to stay independent as long as possible. With a little extra help, it may be possible for you to stay safe and happy in your own home.

For everything there is a Season

New Year, New Love

Is one of your New Years’ Resolutions to find a loving, meaningful relationship? In a world with more than 7.28 billion people, finding love should be an easy task. As humans, we tend to complicate things, especially when our emotions are imprinted by our relationship history. If the methods you have used in the past to find love have not worked for you, then it is time to change things up. It’s a new year, why not try something different? A professional matchmaker handpicks potential partners who are screened and presented to you one by one. Their intentions have been determined and many of the important compatibility factors have already been established.

Your Annual Denturist Checkup

It’s time to plan out your 2023, and you should start with visiting your denturist! Full dentures, partial dentures, and dental implants all need the same level of care as natural teeth. If you wear dentures or have implants, it doesn’t mean you’re off the hook for maintaining great oral health. Routine checkups help prevent any major oral problems from developing and allow for planning any changes your dentures require to ensure you’re never without your teeth. With yearly checkups, your dentures and implants will continue to perform properly and your maintained oral health will mean shorter and smoother visits!

Plan (Far) Ahead to Protect Loved Ones

Over the course of your life, you’ll need to take steps to protect the financial wellbeing of your loved ones for after you’ve passed away. Consider pre-paying for your cemetery and funeral arrangements. You’ll offset future price increases associated with burial or cremation and just as importantly, you’ll spare you’re grieving loved ones the necessity of planning your arrangements. None of us can predict the future, so it’s important to do whatever you can, as soon as you can, to protect your loved ones.

Overcoming Holiday Season Overindulgence

If you’ve overindulged this holiday season, here are some great tips for getting back on track! 1) Practice modified intermittent fasting – start by eliminating nighttime snacking to help support fat burning and better sleep. 2) Increase fibre in the diet for good colon health and binding fat-soluble toxins so they won’t get reabsorbed. 3) Start your day with some warm/room temperature water infused with citrus, cucumber, herbs, ginger, etc. to support fluid intake and liver/kidney health. 4) Practice yoga, Pilates, Qi Gong, or Tai Chi in the mornings to breathe and get blood/lymph moving. 5) Do a sugar detox.
