Help Support Seniors in Our Community today!

Today more than ever your support is extremely valuable. Your support helps progress our services while playing a vital role in keeping seniors independent. Our generous supporters help to supplement the cost to some of our low income seniors in the community, as well as fund programs that are free to any senior like our Friendly Caller program. Every dollar of support stays right here in Saskatoon. We have many lower income seniors that need our services and the generosity of your support allows us to be able to assist them. Please visit our website at www.saskatoonservicesforseniors.ca and show your support for seniors today!

About Us:

Saskatoon Services for Seniors was started in 1988 with goal of helping seniors to stay independent and in their homes as long as they want. We started with offering our Housekeeping service and later developed yard work crews to help seniors with maintaining the outside of their properties. Over the years we have added many services to assist seniors including snow shoveling, handyman services and Grocery Delivery just to name a few. Today we offer many services to help seniors in Saskatoon remain safely in their homes and independent.

Alternatives to Costly Funerals

FAMSS is a non-profit society providing funeral planning advice to the public since 1969. It is an association of like-minded people from all walks of life who respect the need for a simple, dignified alternative to increasingly costly funerals. Most members believe that money spent on elaborate funerals and caskets could be better spent among the living. When you join the Society, you and your family make decisions at home, without emotional or time pressures, and gain peace of mind knowing your affairs are in order. Deal with your passing now and make end-of-life arrangements in accordance with your wishes!

A New Year of Care

Has your aging loved one had: a minor or major fall, noticeable weight loss, clutter accumulation in the home, missed appointments or overdue bills? Now is the time to discuss plans and consult with professionals. Being a family caregiver can be stressful. Often, we are balancing care for an aging loved one with the needs of our own children, grandchildren, work, or other commitments. Care needs can be relentless. As you begin a new year, consider how professional in-home care for an aging loved one will improve their quality of life and support you as well.

Housekeeping Services

Saskatoon Services for Seniors offers housekeeping services for all seniors in Saskatoon. Our staff is screened and fully insured. We are here to assist with many household cleaning services such as kitchens, bathrooms, laundry, dusting and wall washing. We only provide the services that you require and as such only have a one hour minimum for each appointment. We can provide regular weekly service, bi-weekly services or just when you need us. The fee involved is based on the seniors’ income and if cost is a barrier, though our donors we can usually overcome this barrier to be able to get seniors the help they need.

Volunteers Needed!

Here at Saskatoon Services for Seniors we strive to make a difference every day. We do this though helping Seniors remain safely in their own homes by helping provide the services that they need. One of these key services, especially in winter, is our Grocery Delivery Program and we are currently looking for one or two volunteers to help out. If you are interested in helping seniors in our community please contact our office today. Our grocery shoppers/delivery volunteers are needed for one to two days per week.

The “Other 165”

For most of us, doing a workout 3 times in a week is a great week. It also means that your results are largely going to be dictated by the “Other 165” hours in the week. Factors like sleep, stress, hydration, and nutrition have a lot more to do with how your clothes fit than the pushups that you did yesterday. Yes, it’s important to get your workouts in, but it’s even more important to be accountable to what happens during the “Other 165.” Embrace it!
