Mathilda Prinsloo is the owner of Patient Care and Wellness Practice and a health professional with special training in the areas of geriatrics, diabetes management, nutrition, medication management, deprescribing and cognitive behaviour therapy. Mathilda’s patients are seniors in the community who feel they have a poor quality of life due to unresolved medical issues or taking too many medications. Working as a team with her patients’ family doctors and specialists over the past 10 years, Mathilda uses her expertise with medical and non-medical treatments to help her patients thrive and get their lives back!

Recent studies in both Denmark and the United States suggest that acupuncture may help with symptoms of menopause. Women who received acupuncture sessions during the studies reported less severe and less frequent day and night sweats, general sweating, sleep problems, emotional and physical symptoms, and skin and hair problems compared to women who did not have acupuncture sessions during the studies.

What is Spinal Manipulative Therapy?
Spinal manipulation is a treatment technique that involves a high velocity, low amplitude thrust, which is performed by the practitioner on a joint segment of the patient’s spine. The treatment is often accompanied by an audible ‘pop’, which is a change in pressure within the synovial joint. Manipulations can be very helpful in providing pain relief to a specific injury, but the effects are short-lived. The long-term rehab plan for your pain/injury should focus on active-based programming such as exercise. The combination of manual therapy followed by exercise provides more permanent results and better patient outcomes. Ask your practitioner if this is right for you!
