Compassionate Beauty Care

There are many thoughts that go through a person’s mind once a cancer diagnosis is received. What does the future look like and how will my life be changed. What common activities that I do now, will be affected by treatment and subsequent side-effects?

One thing that does not need to change is pampering yourself.  You may think that a trip to the spa is not something you want to experience while being in treatment. Not only is there the possibility of increased infection because your immune system is low, there is the discussion that you will need to have with the esthetician, that may make you uncomfortable.

Perhaps, going to a place that provides safe and hygienic manicures and pedicures is something you would consider. Where the treatments are non-invasive, no cutting of cuticles, no razors used on feet, just simply therapeutic services that are focused on the individual going through any cancer. Having a facial with no extractions, just comforting and customized for your skin. Using all natural products that contain no carcinogens or any toxins. Products with ingredients listings you can pronounce and recognize. The best part – not having to explain what you are going through because we know.

New Oxygen Bar

An oxygen bar is a free-standing bar which you either sit or stand at while breathing in 96% pure oxygen and therapeutic aromas from a disposable nasal cannula (nose hose). The oxygen is not under pressure nor administered from a tank. Doing that would be considered medicinal oxygen. Our oxygen is produced by an oxygen concentrator which uses the ambient air that we breathe and separates the nitrogen with a molecular filter. Most of the nitrogen is expelled during this cycle and the oxygen is concentrated and pushed out of the machine through a tube which is attached to the Aromarizer, located on top of the bar. It is there that the technician controls the flow of oxygen to the individual bottles that hold water and all-natural, essential, therapeutic-grade aromas. Pet Health: Dog Tantrums

A tantrum is a behaviour that dogs use to either express themselves in an emotional outburst or a tool to get their own way. It is a way for dogs to tell us, “Hey we are not happy, pay attention”. However these outbursts can be incredibly frustrating and embarrassing for us when out in public. So as pet owners what can we do? We need to learn to understand our dogs’ body language and how they communicate with us. By providing an outlet to express their frustration, mentally and physically they will be too tired to even have a tantrum. Lots of mental and physical exercise is essential to keeping dogs healthy and happy. Being consciousness of the dog breed will also be helpful. For example Labradors are bred to use their mouth, so often their tantrums involve biting, nipping, and mouthing.

Shoulder Injury Prevention

The shoulder joint with coinciding scapulae and thoracic spine can get complicated with all the different muscles, tendons, and ligaments. When these areas don’t work together, or when one suffers from tissue restriction, you end up with poor shoulder function and the increased likelihood of pain and injury.

There are 3 principles to keeping your shoulder in full pain free mobility, to allow for optimal muscle performance:

  1. Full range of motion through the shoulder joint and thoracic spin.
  2. Scapular stability and motor control to maintain proper shoulder position.
  3. Strength and endurance of the rotator cuff to maintain joint integrity throughout a workout.

A foam roller and lacrosse ball go a long way in maintaining proper mobility. Keep in mind that if the thoracic spine or scapulae are inhibited, it won’t matter how much you stretch the shoulder, so don’t shun these areas.

Antioxidants

Mother Nature provides different antioxidants in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts, and legumes. Antioxidants are crucial to your overall health. When free radicals attack the body’s system, they injure the cell, damaging the DNA, creating the seed for disease. With repeated free radical attacks, this damage can lead to a host of chronic diseases. Each type of antioxidant works either to prevent the chain reaction or stop it after it’s started. We have clear science about antioxidants; our bodies need a natural antioxidant defense network. Betalains were discovered as a class of antioxidants found most prevalently in red beets. A daily dose of red beet juice or a Betalain supplement has been clinically demonstrated to reverse the effects of free radical damage. Researchers are suggesting that beets may be useful in healing therapy for a variety of diseases. Try this simple solution to stop free radical damage in its tracks.

Feeling Stressed?

70% of doctor visits are said to be stress related. Disturbances in your mental well-being can have a serious impact on your health. When you are under stress your body releases a hormone called cortisol at very high amounts. The long-term effects of high cortisol levels can be quite disruptive. High levels not only make you feel fatigued, they are also implicated in weight gain, poor immune response and a greater risk of developing chronic illness. While it is not easy to avoid stress, nature has provided us with nutrients that can decrease cortisol levels and balance other hormones. One of the best medicinal plants

that can help achieve this is Rhodiola Rosea. The brand name, Rhoziva™, is becoming a favourite of many naturopathic and medical doctors who are noticing its benefits. If this sounds like something you could benefit from, visit Nutrition Plus to receive your free trial pack.

Caregiver Pharmacy Support

It can be difficult to be a caregiver and manage multiple or complex medications for a loved one. It is important to ensure medications are taken appropriately to help maintain good health. A visiting pharmacist provides personal support with regular medication delivery and home consultations. The pharmacist reviews a client’s prescription drugs and over the counter medications to advise if there are any drug interactions and makes adjustments as necessary. This level of support can reduce emergency room visits and hospital stays and results in strong, trusting relationships between clients, caregivers and pharmacists. The visiting pharmacist also provides seamless care for hospital discharge patients and works closely with other health professionals to deliver a high level of care to the client. Care is tailored to specific individual needs such as assisting with blood pressure readings, adding medications as needed to adherence packaging and making changes in an efficient manner.

Burn Fat, Don’t Abuse Carbs

Many leading scientists, medical professionals, and nutrition experts agree the ketosis lifestyle is the pinnacle of health and wellbeing. Ketosis is a natural metabolic state where the body burns fat for most of its energy rather than carbohydrates. Fat offers the body 225% more energy than carbohydrates. Today, most people have sugar-burning bodies, not fat-burning bodies. Fat-burning bodies typically experience better energy and fewer cravings due to balanced blood sugar levels. Typically, without several days of fasting or sticking to unrealistic diet plans, our bodies cannot reach ketosis and take advantage of this energy. So unless you have serious discipline and nowhere to go, nutritional ketosis has been believed to be out of reach… until now.
