All gambling, be it poker, a sports game, scratch’n win tickets etc. involves risking something of value in the hopes of winning something by chance. There are three elements to gambling: Wager is the cost of playing in the form of a bet or stake. This can be money or possessions that you are prepared to lose. Chance is the uncertainty and the fact that the outcome of the gamble cannot be predicted or guaranteed. Risk is the value of the wager that has been made on an uncertain outcome. Before you gamble, ask yourself; “Is the potential of winning worth the risk of losing?”

When Should I Wear My Hearing Aids?
It is important to wear hearing aids during all waking hours (with the exception of showering, swimming, and environments where hearing protection should be used). Hearing aids provide the brain with auditory input and the brain creates and reforms new neural networks. If the hearing aids are only used when needed, then these new networks are not formed nor strengthened. Occasional hearing aid use can also lead to auditory deprivation and can effect a person’s ability to understand speech. To find out more about what hearing aid best suits your lifestyle and budget, call for a Free hearing evaluation.
When Living Alone is No Longer an Option
The phone rings and the person on the other line says, “Your mom fell and broke her hip. She needs surgery and rehab.” When she is released from rehab, you realize that she can no longer live alone. It is easy to compare the cost of basic room, board and food services. However, often there are other “hidden” fees associated with “independent” and “assisted living” facilities. These may include health care and medication related fees, fees for personal care and other treatments. All these add up! Choosing care home needs for a loved one requires knowing the full financial cost in addition to the usual “room and board.”
Managing Stress
All of us deal with stress to some extent during our daily life. It can be due to work, driving in traffic, family, or financial worries, to name just a few. How do you manage your stress? Some of us go for a walk or read a good book, while others of us just push it down and try to ignore it. Stress can have many effects on us and can contribute to disease and illness. Want to know other ways to manage your stress? Come to our next free health night where we will be talking more about it.
Healing with Cupping “Kissing Cups” & Moxibustion
Cupping and moxibustion treatments improve circulation to promote healing and pain relief. Cupping increases blood flow within capillaries and vessels enabling tissues to better receive nutrients and oxygen. When tissues are nourished, healing can take place and pain is reduced or resolved. Children with asthma, poor immunity and stomach pain/discomfort can be treated with “kissing cups”. Moxibustion involves burning a prepared form of mugwort on or near the skin. Pumping heat into one or more acupuncture points activates and strengthens circulation and absorption to promote healing in the local area. Moxibustion is also a safe and effective technique for helping to turn breech babies.

The Odds of Winning the Lottery
Did you know that regardless of how many people purchase a lottery ticket for any given draw, the odds remain the same? Whether hundreds of thousands of players purchase tickets, or only 3 people purchase tickets, the odds of winning remains the same. If the jackpot grows to $40M or $50M, the odds of winning remain the same as if the jackpot sat at $100K. The odds of winning 6/49 is just less than one in 14 million; winning Lotto Max odds is one in 86 million. Betting on a win is very slim. The odds of losing remain 1:13,999,999 for 6/49.
