Dr. Eduardo Barreto
In Colombia, Dr. Barreto was trained as a medical doctor, then went on to specialize in alternative medicine, studying homeopathy, acupuncture, and a variety of other modalities. He worked for over fifteen years as a family physician, providing mainstream as well as alternative health care. In that time, he learned the importance of taking the time to see patients holistically (spirit, mind and body) and that a healthy lifestyle is fundamental in the prevention, treatment and recuperation from pain and illness.
Dr. Barreto continued his studies after moving to Canada, and is currently a full member of the Pan European Federation of Traditional Chinese Medicine Societies and a certified Natural Health Consultant. As well, Dr. Barreto works with ACU-acupuncture Services Ltd., teaching Introductory and Advanced Certificate courses and workshops to healthcare professionals wanting to expand their skills and knowledge in acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine.

What happens during a consultation with Dr. Barreto?
The initial consultation is a conversation that may last for about two hours, while follow-up appointments last from 30-60 minutes. Dr. Barreto will listen carefully and empathetically to what you say – and sometimes to what you don’t say - in order to understand many different aspects of your personality and state of health. He will ask you questions about yourself and your health, and among other things, he will be looking at how you move your body and how you react to stress. Each consultation is a chance for you to better understand yourself and your health.
