Do you sit at a desk for a living? Drive a car instead of walking or biking? Netflix binge TV? Sedentary lifestyles have even been termed the “new smoking” because of the potential long term health effects on your health. Some tips to increase daily activity include setting a timer to go off every 30 minutes to allow for a 2-5 minute walk. Instead of having a meeting over coffee, try to have a walking meeting instead. Other ideas include taking the stairs, walking to a colleague’s desk instead of sending an email, joining a fitness group on your lunch hour and using a fitness watch or pedometer to monitor your daily physical activity.
