Music Therapy And Stroke

The effects of TBIs, such as stroke, can be felt across many different areas, such as communication impairment, motor dysfunction, and emotional issues. Music and music therapy have the unique ability to help improve the ability to communicate, improve cognition and motor function, improve mood, and, depending on the severity and timing, accelerate neurological recovery through neuroplasticity. Through interventions such as using strong rhythms, singing, playing instruments, listening to music, and songwriting, music therapy can improve the quality of life and well-being for those who have suffered a TBI, as well as for their caregivers.
