Shining a Light on Men’s Health: November, A Month of Empowerment
Here at Moose Jaw Family Services, we understand the profound significance of November to individuals around the world. It’s a month where we come together to support the men in our lives during Men’s Health Month. November holds diverse meanings for different people, but, as a man writing this, two pivotal aspects come to mind: Remembrance Day, which honors our family members who bravely fought in World War II, and Men’s Health. This month, we celebrate survivors and stand in solidarity with those still battling testicular cancer while also remembering those we’ve lost.
November has transformed into “Movember” for many, and you might wonder about this change. It’s because men across the globe grow mustaches in support of men’s health. Specifically, the movement seeks to raise awareness for men facing challenges like testicular cancer, prostate cancer, and men’s mental health. With the odds of getting testicular cancer standing at approximately 1 in 270 men, the chances are high that you know someone in your life—a father, uncle, brother, cousin, or friend—dealing with this condition. Men grow mustaches to spark conversations about men’s health, reaching more people each year.
