If you think you’ll never need dentures because you take good care of your teeth, then it may surprise you that more than one in every five Canadians over the age of 60 have no natural teeth remaining. If you’ve already lost a tooth or several teeth, the need for dentures is immediate. The more time you go without dentures, the more risk you run of losing additional teeth. Without the support of all your teeth, the remaining healthy teeth shift faster and become weaker. Other warning signs that dentures may be in your future are: red and swollen gums, loose or moving teeth or difficulty chewing food.
